Organic Farming and What it Means
People ask us why we care so much about farming and food. "Don't you create and sell soaps and balms?" they ask? At Makes 3 we understand that seeking out and buying organic food is a gateway to organic living in general. If you are concerned about what you put in your body, it follows that you become concerned about what you put on your body.
We also know that many people don't understand organic farming and why it's important. But the basics of organic food is that there are fewer harmful pesticides, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides sprayed on them. Consuming fewer harmful chemicals means a healthier body and a healthier family. It also means a healthier environment.
This interview from The Organic & Non-GMO Report with Fred Kirschenmann on farming as a self-regulating, self-renewing system is full of wonderful information on what the life of an organic farmer is like and what they are achieving. It's a great read.
